7 Teams Headed to BBNZ Nationals

After a hugely successful qualifying weekend that took place in Dunedin, Basketball Otago is proud to announce that an impressive haul of seven Otago representative teams have qualified for their respective age-group Nationals - a tremendous achievement for our players, coaches and wider basketball community.

Under 20's

Both our U20 Men and U20 Women are off to Tauranga at the end of this month to compete at the BBNZ U20 Nationals taking place from 30th May - 2nd June.

With the draw now released, both teams know their opposition with the Men facing off against Canterbury, Franklin and Waikato Country. The Women have been drawn against Canterbury, Harbour "A" and Harbour "B".

Under 18's

Basketball Otago will once again be represented by both our U18 boy's and girl's rep teams at the BBNZ U18 Nationals in Christchurch, 30th June - 3rd July.

With both teams returning key players from last season's campaign, they are aiming to build on their previous performances and push for even stronger results in 2025.

Under 16's

In a remarkable milestone for the region, Basketball Otago will have THREE representative teams in Wellington for the BBNZ U16 Nationals, 8-11th July.

Both our "A" Boys and "A" Girls teams earned their spots through strong performances at qualifiers, yet in a particularly exciting development, our "B" Girls also qualified - marking a proud moment for the representative program and a testament to the depth of talent in the region.

Our U18 and U16 teams will have to wait a little longer to find out their opponents but we would like to congratulate all players, coaches and staff for their achievements so far this season. We can't wait to see you on the court representing Otago with pride!
