Trial information for Players and Parents:

Register online for trials for the U15-U19 age groups for 2020 for Dunedin Metro and Otago.  Age requirements have changed to line up with the Federation of International Basketball Association (FIBA).  See below for new regulations.

U15 and U17 trials will be two dates in February.  U19 trials are TBD and trialists will be contacted with details.  Trials are the 16th and 23rd of February at the Edgar Centre in Dunedin.  Ideally we would like all trialilst there both dates, but if there is a conflict let BBO know.   

If you are from a different association in Otago (Central or North), and they will field an age group team that you will play in, you are not allowed to trial for a team in Otago.  If your association will not have a team, then you may trial for an Otago team based in Dunedin.

If you know you won’t be available for one of your tournaments, please communicate that with the coaches at the trials.  Reminder that Representative sports should take precedent over school sports and we expect this to be the case for 2020.  

Regulations 

U15 - Must turn 14 or 15 in 2020

U17 - Must turn 16 or 17 in 2020.

U19 - Must turn 18 or 19 in 2020.

Tournament Dates

U15-U19 Mass Participation Tournament - 21 & 22 March Dunedin

U15 & U17 Qualifying Tournament  - 6 & 7 June Invercargill 

*If there are 3 or less teams in a grade at Qualifiers (potentially U15 and U17 girls), then the competition will take place on one day.  We will try and work around the Jr. Netball tournament on this weekend).

U19 Qualifiers - 9 & 10 May Queenstown

U15 Nationals - 15-18 July in Auckland (Takanini) at Bruce Pulman Arena

U17 Nationals - 8-11th July in Nelson

U19 Nationals - 30 May - 2 June Dunedin

Trial Dates 

First Trial - Sunday 16th February 

Second Trial - Sunday 23rd February

Times for both Dates:

U15 Girl’s - Noon - 1.30pm

U15 Boy’s - 1.30pm-3pm

U17 Girl’s - 3pm-4.30pm

U17 Boy’s - 4.30pm-6pm

U19 Men and Women - TBD -Trialists will be contacted with further details once the coaches are selected.

Please pay the $2.50 Edgar door fee for each trial. There is no other cost.
