A second overtime win in as many weeks has taken Andy Bay Kavanagh to the top of the table.

It edged the Andy Bay Falcons 75-67 in their intraclub derby game on Tuesday night.

Kavanagh went outright top of the women’s competition after fellow leader Ajax was beaten by the South Pac Magic.

Annabelle Ring and Dre Whaanga continued their strong form for Kavanagh, contributing 22 and 17 points respectively.

They were both prominent early as the team streaked out to a 22-14 lead at the first break.

The Falcons pulled that back to 35-35 at halftime and, on the back of a big quarter from Zoe (26 points) and Brittany Richards (15 points), led by two heading into the fourth.

However, Kavanagh pulled back to 63-63 at the end of regulation and closed out the win in overtime.

The win takes it to a 6-1 season record.

The Magic confirmed it was well and truly back on track by downing Ajax 54-49.

Natalie Visger and Claudia Flaws combined for 39 points to help the Magic to a fourth consecutive win.

It led 13-10 before the pair took over the game through the middle.

Visger scored 11 points in the second quarter, showing her ability to both get to the line and shoot the three to take Magic to a 28-22 halftime lead.

Ajax, without Tall Fern Nicole Ruske, fired back, though. It found scoring from a range of players to eat up the lead, although Flaws kept the score ticking over to leave it tied at 39-39.

However, the Magic finished more strongly and it was that pair again who were prominent in closing out the win.
