When the pressure was at its highest, Georgia Te Au delivered.

The South Pac Magic point guard hit an overtime match-winner to clinch a 52-50 win over Varsity in women’s club basketball on Tuesday night.

Varsity had gone ahead late in a see-sawing game, a Tara Clement (13 points) three-pointer making it 50-49.

But the Magic did not panic.

With 11 seconds left, Te Au (11 points) passed ahead to Soraya Umaga-Jensen (11 points), who drew two defenders.

She found Mille Simpson, who passed to Te Au on the wing to coolly swish the winner from deep with six seconds remaining.

It was a thrilling end to a tight game.

The Magic got an early jump and led 10-7 at the first break, extending that to 21-14 at halftime.

However, Varsity came back in the third quarter and two Kelly Thompson (11 points) three-pointers left it trailing by one at the final break.

Thompson hit another early in the fourth, before Clement hit twice from deep to tie things at 45-45 at the end of regulation.

But it was Magic that had the final say, Te Au denying Varsity a third consecutive win.

Meanwhile, 16 fourth quarter points from Aleisha Ruske (28 points) helped Ajax edge past the Andy Bay Falcons.

A 23-point night from returning forward Zoe Richards, coupled with 17 from Jenna Small, helped the Falcons out to a 46-39 lead at the final break.

However, they were held to 11 fourth-quarter points, while Ruske took over down the stretch.

In the battle of the school teams, Andy Bay Kavanagh beat South Pac OGHS 74-34.

Annabelle Ring and Anita Samasoni had 21 and 19 points respectively as Kavanagh moved to four wins from five games.
