The South Pac Magic will meet Ajax in the women’s club final.

It will be the third year in a row the sides have contested the championship game, having split the spoils over the past two years.

The Magic maintained its unbeaten season with a 65-50 win over Varsity in its semifinal on Tuesday night. It delivered a balanced scoring effort, making use of the range of threats which make it so hard to contain.

It jumped out to a 16-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and extended that to 36-25.

Varsity held that gap through the third quarter, going to the final break at 53-42, before the Magic closed the game out.

Natalie Visger and Dayna Turnbull both reached double-figures with 15 and 12 points respectively, while Soraya Umaga-Jensen finished with 11.

Ajax withstood a fourth quarter comeback to beat the Andy Bay Falcons 71-53.

Danielle Frost (19 points) found her scoring touch early as Ajax leapt out to a 15-2 lead.

However, the Falcons stemmed the flow as Brittany Richards (16 points) helped them back to 24-12 at the first break.

Ajax remained in control at 37-24 at halftime, before Nicole Ruske (17 points) began to take over in the second half. She helped Ajax shoot out to lead 54-33 at the final break.

However, the Falcons came flying back midway through the fourth and the side pulled the deficit back to eight.

They were unable to get closer than that, though, Ajax halting the run and closing out the game.
