Dear Members,

During Basketball Otago’s Annual General Meeting held on the 14th May, an election was held to confirm four board positions for the next two years to join Angela Ruske and Farrell Cameron who were not due for re-election this year.

The attending voting delegates duly elected the following individuals to the Basketball Otago board for a term of two years (in no particular order):

  • Daniel Piebenga
  • Rene Sterk
  • Mike Simpson
  • Fraser Jopson

We congratulate new board member Fraser Jopson on his appointment to the board, and look forward to working closely with him over this forthcoming term. Fraser brings a wealth of experience to the board from an administration perspective, and is involved at committee and development level with the Anderson’s Bay Basketball Club.

On Monday 21st May at the first meeting of the new Basketball Otago governance board, Angela Ruske was elected to the position of Board Chairperson, along with Farrell Cameron as the new Deputy Chairperson.

Karl Andrews was also co-opted on to the board unanimously by all members. Karl was an integral member of the BBO board when the current strategic plan for the period of 2016-2018 was developed and which has significant benefit to many of our stakeholders if it comes to fruition.

Karl has also been a valued member of the board, and as Chairperson produced several successful outcomes for our organisation during his tenure.

I look forward to working with all board members going forward, and believe our governance roles are well resourced for our organisations needs in the immediate future.

Yours sincerely

Justin Ludlow - General Manager
